ISSUE IV SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

In our continued exploration of creative storytelling, visions, prophecies, and the subconscious mind, Poet’s Row is proud to declare a call to submissions for our fourth print anthology. In Les Manifestes du surréalisme, André Breton reflects on the surrealist movement: “Psychic automatism in its pure state, by which one proposes to express—verbally, by any means of the written word, or in any other manner—the actual functioning of thought. Dictated by thought, in the absence of any control exercised by reason, exempt from any aesthete or moral concern.” His commentary on the subject advocates for the freedom of the human mind and the examination of dreams.

We invite you to lend your most obscure thoughts to Poet’s Row ISSUE IV. We are seeking poetry and prose that engage unconventionality and absurdism. Be it an ekphrastic response to Salvador Dalí, a poetic interpretation of a nonsensical dream or a Jungian tale comprised of archetypes and symbols of the soul—send us work that is bold, fantastical, defying of reality and structurally complex. We are interested in work that references the fearless artists and writers who examined the unknown and the academics who gave credence to the movement of Dada and Surrealism.

Submissions are open from August 3 to August 31, 2025.
